Additions Cover Innovations in Distributed Lighting Intelligence
Boston, Mass., Feb. 18, 2014 – Digital Lumens, the leader in intelligent LED systems, today announced that it has been awarded seven new patents, bringing its total to 14. The innovations covered by the latest additions include a range of technologies embedded in the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System™ – rules-based distributed control, historic sensor data logging, automated system commissioning, and lighting energy management.
“As the most pervasive devices in the built environment, smart lighting is rapidly becoming the backbone for building intelligence – paid for by energy savings,” said Brian Chemel, co-author of the patents and CTO of Digital Lumens. “We are pleased that our innovations have been recognized by the U.S. Patent Office, and look forward to expanding the role that lighting plays as both an application, and as a platform for a broad range of other capabilities.”
Digital Lumens’ approach to fully–integrated LED lighting systems – intelligent LED fixtures wirelessly networked and centrally managed – result in dramatically lower lighting energy use, unprecedented flexibility, granular control over when and where light is delivered within a facility, and accessible data about lighting and operational metrics. The Digital Light Agent embedded in each fixture combines environmental sensing, wireless networking and distributed control software to maximize energy savings without sacrificing performance, while the LightRules management platform enables enterprise-wide optimization of efficiency, real-time management, and detailed performance reporting at any level of granularity.
