Digital Lumens to be honored at LEDucation7 conference in New York City
Boston, Mass., March 20, 2013 – Digital Lumens announced today that its Xpress lighting fixture has been named a “Best in Class” product by Next Generation Luminaires in the Fifth Annual Solid-State Lighting Design Competition, which awards excellence in indoor commercial LED lighting products. Xpress, the Digital Lumens entry-level high bay LED-based fixture, was recognized for its quality and efficacy, along with its ability to provide customers with occupancy-driven energy savings.
Xpress was selected as one of 28 products to be recognized from an initial pool of 156 submissions, and was judged on a range of criteria including lighting quality, efficacy and value. The awards, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in collaboration with the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and the International Association of Lighting Designers, were founded in 2008 to promote excellence in the design of energy efficient LED luminaires.
“We’re thrilled that a Digital Lumens product is being recognized for a fourth year in a row by Next Generation Luminaires, this time for our Xpress fixture, “ said Mike Feinstein, Digital Lumens’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Xpress is an excellent entry point into the Digital Lumens product line that offers customers the benefits of fully integrated LEDs and occupancy sensing in a single luminaire.”
Digital Lumens will be presented with the award by Jim Broderick, lighting program manager for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Program, at the LEDucation7 conference in New York City later today, and a full list of winners can be found online at http://www.ngldc.org/.
About the Next Generation Luminaires Solid-State Lighting Design Competition
The fifth annual Next Generation LuminairesTM (NGL) Solid-State Lighting Design Competition has recognized 28 commercial LED indoor lighting products for excellence; announced on March 20, 2013 at the LEDucation 7 lighting conference in New York.
The idea behind NGL is to make it easier for lighting designers and specifiers to find LED lighting products that are worthy of specification. This means recognized products have to measure up on many fronts. NGL entries are evaluated by a panel drawn from the architectural lighting community and are judged on lighting quality (including color, illuminance, light distribution, and glare), appearance, serviceability, efficacy, value, and dimming.
