Boston, MA – February 21, 2012 – Digital Lumens today announced its selection as an exhibitor at the ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit, an event hosted by the US Department of Energy to highlight and support development of game-changing energy technologies. Digital Lumens was chosen to demonstrate its highly efficient, LED-based Intelligent Lighting System™ during the event’s Technology Showcase, taking place February 27 – 29 at the Gaylord Convention Center in Washington DC (booth #444).

More than a simple LED light source, the Intelligent Lighting System comprises smart, LED-based fixtures – all with integrated occupancy sensors and intelligence –wirelessly networked and centrally managed. At the Technology Showcase Digital Lumens will display the latest addition to this system – an enhanced LED-based fixture with integrated daylight harvesting capabilities. These new fixtures automatically adjust light output in response to available ambient light, ensuring consistent light levels and even light distribution across an entire facility.

The Intelligent Lighting System reduces industrial facilities’ lighting-related energy use by up to 90%. These levels of energy savings far exceed what can be achieved with simple LEDs alone because the system intelligently delivers the right amount of light precisely where and when needed in large facilities, where lights are typically on 24 x 7 regardless of need.

“Given the many, wide-ranging innovations being explored in energy today, it’s an honor for Digital Lumens to showcase our intelligent LED system alongside the nation’s most promising advancements in the sector,” said Tom Pincince, President and CEO of Digital Lumens. “Until the arrival of LEDs, lighting had been a stagnant technology with limited capability for control beyond on, off or dim.
Boston, Mass., November 16, 2011– Digital Lumens, developer of the market-leading Intelligent LED Lighting System, today announced significant additions to its product portfolio with new 18,000- and 26,000-lumen highbay LED lighting fixtures – all with integrated daylight harvesting sensors – and enhancements to LightRules™, the Digital Lumens centralized control system that maximizes energy efficiency.

Designed for use in an expanded range of commercial and industrial environments, including those requiring an IP 65 rating for washdown capabilities, the new fixtures are a lumen-for-lumen replacement of existing T5 and T8 High-Intensity Fluorescents (HIF) and feature:

Up to 100% increase in raw light output (lumens), supporting higher delivered light levels, deployment in facilities with higher ceilings, and greater fixture spacing;

Integrated daylight sensors to further reduce energy usage (see separate release);

Increased environmental resistance (IP65), making the fixtures applicable to production environments that require washdown or UL damp-rated fixtures;

A choice of optics options, making the fixtures suitable for both open and aisle applications; and

Greater lighting energy savings.

“Industrial customers worldwide have rapidly come to understand the energy efficiency differences between plain LED fixtures and our Intelligent Lighting Systems, and are saving millions of kilowatt hours annually,” said Michael Feinstein, Digital Lumens’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With these new offerings, our Intelligent Lighting System is able to offer even greater energy savings for facilities with available ambient light, accelerating project payback and maximizing long-term savings.”

These new fixtures join Digital Lumens’s existing product portfolio, which includes 10,000- and 15,000-lumen LED intelligent lighting fixtures, giving customers a selection of luminaires to best meet their needs. All Digital Lumens fixtures feature integrated occupancy sensors and are wirelessly controlled by LightRules central management platform, which maximizes energy efficiency by providing light when and where needed, and provides lighting scheduling and detailed lighting energy reports.

“The higher lumen output, integrated daylight harvesting, and enhancements to the Intelligent Lighting System make Digital Lumens’s solutions more appealing to a broader range of our industrial customers, including those looking for lumen-for-lumen replacements of their 400 watt metal halide or 6- and 8-lamp fluorescent fixtures,” said Gary Hubbard, Project Manager for Leading Edge Design Group, a Digital Lumens reseller. “Facilities engineers are very interested in controllable highbay LED lighting and we’re very excited to offer the expanded Digital Lumens portfolio to them.”

Digital Lumens continues to help industrial customers drive energy efficiencies, providing 100% of the light for 10% of the energy cost. The Company’s solutions have been proven with more than 100 large-scale facilities driving 33 million kWh of total annual lighting energy savings.

Built-in daylight sensors can drive up to 50% additional lighting energy savings in industrial facilities with available ambient light

Boston, Mass., November 16, 2011– Digital Lumens, developer of the market-leading Intelligent LED Lighting System, today announced daylight harvesting capabilities in its newest LED lighting fixtures and LightRules™ control system. The new fixtures include integrated light sensors, which assess available ambient light and automatically adjust light output to desired levels. Managed by new LightRules software, the daylight harvesting has the potential deliver an additional 50% energy savings, depending on the application.

A standard part of the new Digital Lumens 18,000- and 26,000-lumen highbay LED fixtures (see separate announcement), the daylight sensors measure available light from windows or skylights and intelligently and gradually adjust the fixtures’ light output to meet desired light levels. LightRules reports on the amount of energy saved via the use of daylight harvesting, providing key feedback for facility management.

The integration of daylight sensors into these new fixtures offers:

Gradual light balancing to ensure even light levels and smooth response to changing daylight levels throughout the day;

Granular control over individual fixture behavior to maximize energy efficiency – in contrast to bolt-on sensors, which manage groups of fixtures; and

Cost-effective daylight harvesting because the Digital Lumens daylight harvesting capability doesn’t require the purchase and integration of additional hardware to take advantage of ambient light. In addition, because the system is remotely managed via LightRules, it’s fast and easy to adjust settings without using a lift.

“Extending the Digital Lumens Lighting System to intelligently respond to the environment and deliver greater energy efficiency has always been an explicit design goal for us,” said Brian Chemel, Digital Lumens’s Co-Founder and CTO. “Just as we have with occupancy sensors, integrating daylight sensors directly into the system delivers much finer control, greater flexibility and substantially better energy savings than after-market alternatives. With our distributed, intelligent system, lighting is becoming a well-managed, controllable resource that is delivering new value to customers while using much less energy.”

Digital Lumens continues to help industrial customers drive energy efficiencies, providing 100% of the light for 10% of the energy cost. The Company’s solutions have been proven with more than 100 large-scale facilities driving 33 million kWh of total annual lighting energy savings.
